I’m a successful professional that is looking for additional businesses to own. I do not want to engage in day to day operations and be onsite, but have capital available for investment in promising opportunities. I know that if employees are needed, they should be good and trusted employees, which is probably the biggest hurdle in making an absentee business successful. I would consider partnering with the right person where they do the day to day work and I provide the capital and provide my business expertise. I understand that I could not be totally absentee and would expect to devote several hours (~10) per week to the operation. I would want it to be something local where I could drop in unexpectedly and make sure the wheels weren’t falling off.

I would consider (but do not prefer) a franchise. As for commercial real estate, it seems that the risk/reward ratio is somewhat askew in this part of the country, so I am leaning in a different direction.

I carry a bunch of maxed out credit cards and I may have to rent a car (from an evil industry). How much do I need to throw at a credit card to get the credit line to a point where evil car rental companies will went. I guess i want to know how much they typically hold on a real non-debit credit card.

Anyone who requires a credit card to do business should be shut down and put in prison. I boycott hotels that do that and I have managed to make it to 35 without ever renting a car but now I may have no choice so what am i getting into

My credit score is currently 701; it went up after I paid off my credit card completely. Since then I’ve used the card but I make weekly payments to it using Bill Pay online.

I’m shopping for a laptop but when I apply online, I get denied. I don’t understand why. How can I get approved to finance a laptop? I want a laptop and I want to finance it in order to improve my credit. I can’t have someone co-sign for me sadly, so I really need to get approved in some way. Help!
