Roughneck Jobs In The Oil Rig Industry

 

The oil rig industry is an industry that many people are totally unaware of. These are well paying jobs that are always in demand. The duties involved in working in the oil rigs are for hard working individuals who do not mind working to earn an honest pay.

The main laborers on the oil rig work long hours in any king of weather. The are a tight knit group that depend on teamwork to get the job done. These workers are more appropriately known as roughnecks

Roughneck are promoted from the roustabout position which are responsible for providing the roughneck with supplies. Roustabouts and roughnecks work hand in hand in the drilling process.

In addition to drilling, roughnecks are also responsible for assembling and disassembling the drilling equipment. Transportation of drilling equipment are also included in their responsiblities.

The oil rig roughneck handles multiple pieces of pipe or drill stem on the rig platform. This certain duty occurs during drilling and also during the removal and replacement of pipes and drill bits.

A roughneck can make anywhere from 300 to 400 dollars for everyday of work. This totals up to approximately 47 thousand dollars a year. This entry level pay is what you can expect to make as a roughneck.

Roughnecks are also given full medical insurance. The job covers room and board, meals, and addition to airfare to and from jobs. These benefits are the perks of the roughneck’s hard work.

Roughnecks are hard working team oriented individuals that do not mind working hard to earn their high income. The term roughneck is one the is quite appropriate for the job perform on the oil rig.
